Also known as Experimental Theatre,
Black Box Theatres were founded in the 1920's and become popular in the 1960's and 70's. It was considered to be a place where "pure" theatre could be explored.
Black Box Theatres consist of black walls and a flat stage floor. The beauty of our performance space is in the flexibility to create different production environments, as well as in the intimacy of relationship between the audience and performers.
At SALT, you get to experience shows up close and personal, not missing a single expression or moment. Sometimes we create a production where you actually feel a part of it. And many times, we structure the room to incorporate a Dinner Theatre Style.
