Steps

Step 1: Submit an AUDITION FORM prior to auditions.

Step 2: Register for a time slot via SIGN UP GENIUS.

COVID Precautions

At this time, SALT requires masks be worn for all rehearsals. In order to avoid disruptions to our rehearsal and performance schedule, if you are over the age of 18, only vaccinated individuals will be considered for casting. If you are under the age of 18, you will be considered for casting regardless of your vaccination status, but if you are not vaccinated, we will require a weekly negative COVID test result for you to participate. Audience seating may be sold at full capacity. As the guidance changes in the months ahead, we will also adjust our precautions.

Audition Date

Auditions will take place via time slots on the evening of September 20, 2021 at our West Chester location (19 Hagerty Blvd, West Chester, 19382).

Callbacks, including the dance call, will take place on the evening of September 22, 2021 at our Chester Springs location (1645 Art School Rd, Chester Springs, 19425).

Performances & Rehearsals

Performances will take place on the weekends of Dec 3-19, 2021. We ask all cast members to reserve the Thursday evenings prior to these weekends for potential added performances. 

Rehearsals will take place on Sunday, Monday, & Wednesday evenings beginning on September 27 through opening (you may not be called each night and we will take off on Oct 31 and Nov 24). Tech week will be all evenings between November 29-December 2. A 10AM-10PM rehearsal will take place on November 28.

Audition Format

Please prepare two song selections (no more than 32 bars each) in the style of the show (CAN totally be from the show). Please also prepare to tell us a story to do with the Holidays in 60 seconds or less. For your music, please bring your sheet music in a binder with cuts clearly marked for our accompanist. 

Character Descriptions

WE ARE SEEKING TO FILL THE FOLLOWING ROLES WITH NON-EQUITY PERFORMERS:

Jovie

Buddy's girlfriend. She works at Macy's and has a bit of a cynical outlook on life and love because of the men she's dated. She is caught off guard by Buddy's genuinely big heart.

Stage Age: 30's

Walter

Buddy's workaholic father. He is a Children's book writer, but lacks any of the childlike spirit that Buddy has. He is selfish, tense, and generally angry with life.

Gender: Male

Stage Age: 50 to 70

Emily

Walter's wife. Though she is sweet and willing to take him in, she thinks Buddy is crazy at first. Wishes her husband would spend more time with the family.

Michael

Buddy's stepbrother who is excited to have a new friend and brother. Unlike his mother, he doesn't take much convincing to have Christmas spirit, but like his mother, he wishes his father would spend more time with the family.

Deb

Walter's secretary. Takes an instant liking to Buddy simply for the novelty of it. Though she aims to please and is a bit of a suck-up, she feels under appreciated.

Manager

A department manager at Macy's. They are good & friendly just trying to do their job and get by.

Greenway

Walter's boss. They are what Walter will become if he continues down the path he is on. A tyrannical, workaholic who cares nothing about the people around them or who work for them.

Santa

Just another workingman. Loves his job and Christmas, but also likes to kick-back and watch the game when a rare opportunity arises. A natural storyteller.

Chadwick

One of Walter's right-hand men/women. They are desperate to keep their job, and perhaps the dumber of the two.

One of Walter's right-hand men/women. They are desperate to keep their job and is the schemer of the two.

Seeking to cast approximately 6 children (ages 6-12) and 8 teens/adults to fulfill all of the ensemble roles of: Mrs. Claus, Elves, Charlie, Tiara, Mr. Narwhal, Teenager, Employees, Security Guard 1&2, Customer 1&2, Saleswoman, Store Elf 1&2, Fake Santa 1&2&3, Boy, Mother, Policeman 1&2, Sarah, Jim, Vendor, Waitress, Charlotte, Man, Woman

 

Compensation

This is a community theatre production performed on a volunteer basis.
