Steps

Step 1: Submit an AUDITION FORM prior to auditions.

Step 2: Register for a time slot via SIGN UP GENIUS.

COVID Precautions

At this time, masks are optional at SALT and we do not require proof of vaccine status or testing. Masks are not able to be worn during tech rehearsals and performances. If the guidance changes in the months ahead, we will also adjust our precautions.

Audition Date

Auditions will take place via time slots on the evenings of June 6 & 7 at our SALT Chester Springs location (1645 Art School Road, Chester Springs, PA 19425).

Callbacks, including the dance call, will take place on the evening of June 9, 2022 at our Chester Springs location (1645 Art School Rd, Chester Springs, 19425).

Performances & Rehearsals

Performances will take place on the weekends of September 9-25, 2022. We ask all cast members to reserve the Thursday evenings prior to these weekends for potential added performances. 

The Read Through will take place on June 13. Rehearsals begin on June 20 and will take place on Sunday afternoons from 1-4PM, Monday evenings from 6-10PM, and Wednesday evenings from 6-10PM. Please be sure to list all schedule conflicts on your audition form.

Audition Format

Adults, Teens, and Children:  Please prepare 2 songs, 32 cuts each clearly marked on your sheet music in a binder for our accompanist. The songs should be in the style of the show...the songs CAN be from the show but do not HAVE to be.

Adults, regardless of which role for which you are auditioning, should also be prepared to perform this scene. (It will give us a gauge of your acting choices, speaking voice, comedic beats, etc.)

Teens and Children should also be prepared to tell a 60 second story of a fond memory from your life.

Character Descriptions

We are seeking to cast all ages, genders, races, abilities, and body types for the following roles:

Charlie Cowell

A traveling salesmen who is on to Harold Hill's schemes. Tirelessy attempts to prove to everyone the true con man behind Harold Hill.

Stage Age: 25 to 45

Harold Hill

Our story's unsuspecting protagonist. A con man, traveling under the auspices of a salesman, he eventually falls in love with Marian Paroo. Charismatic and charming.

Stage Age: 25 to 35

Vocal range top: F4

Vocal range bottom: Ab2

Shinn

A blustery politician who is all too "self-important." Begrudgingly married to Eulalie, he is skeptical of the town rumor mill.

Ewart Dunlop

A member of the quartet formed by Harold Hill with a tenor voice. Ewart is married to Maude Dunlop.

Oliver Hix

A baritone in the quartet formed by Hill. Oliver is married to Alma Hix.

Jacey Squires

The highest tenor in the quartet. Married to Mrs. Squires.

Olin Britt

A citizen of River City and the bass of the quartet formed by Harold Hill.

Harold's chummy old friend and former con man, he now lives in River City and is trying to settle down.

An attractive, young man from the wrong side of town. He is secretly courting Zaneeta.

Marian Paroo

The stuff town librarian and music teacher. She is an attractive young lady who eventually falls for Harold Hill. Stuck up. Curious.

Cheerful and always plotting. An Irish widow and mother to Marian and Winthrop.

Winthrop Paroo

Marian's baby brother, he is very shy because of a noticeable lisp. Embraces Harold Hill and the marching band.

Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn

Mayor Shinn's peacock wife. A serial gossiper and snob, she has trouble keeping her opinions to herself.

Zaneeta Shinn

The Mayor's fresh-faced daughter who is in love with Tommy. Sweet and outgoing. Appears to be daffy at times.

A "Pick-a-Little Lady" married to Oliver Hix.

Maud Dunlop

A "Pick-a-Little Lady" married to Ewart Dunlop.

Ethel Toffelmier

A comical "Pick-a-Little Lady," and Marcellus Washburn's girlfriend.

Mrs. Squires

A "Pick-a-Little Lady" married to Jacey Squires.
