Before Rent, there was Tick, Tick... Boom!. This autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson, the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning composer of Rent, is the story of a composer and the sacrifices that he made to achieve his big break in theatre. Containing fourteen songs, ten characters, six actors and a band, Tick, Tick... Boom! takes you on the playwright/composer's journey that led to a Broadway blockbuster. This show will be performed in SALT's West Chester location. See below for audition details.

Audition Dates

Initial auditions will take place via timeslots on September 25th & 28th at SALT Performing Arts in West Chester (19 Hagerty Blvd, 19382). 

Callbacks

Callbacks will take place if necessary and by invitation on the evening of September 29th, also at SALT's West Chester location.

Performance Dates

Performances will take place on the weekends of January 12-21, 2024 at SALT's West Chester location. 

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will primarily take place on Sunday afternoons, Monday evenings, and Wednesday evenings beginning mid-October. Please review the rehearsal and production schedule here to put any known conflicts on your audition form.

Compensation

This is a community theatre production performed on a volunteer basis.

Roles

All roles are open and available, and we encourage all performers to submit for any role regardless of ability, race, ethnicity, sexuality, neurodiversity, and similarity to the source material or original cast. We are seeking to cast 3 actors to play Jon, Michael, and Susan and 3 actors to be their understudies, as well as play the other roles in the script.

No-nonsense/gritty attitude, yet still genuine & polite

Strong acting ability in order to convey her deep connection & love for Jon, while simultaneously weighing the options she has to begin her professional life out of NYC.
