About This Production

We are so excited to produce SpongeBob the Musical as SALT's first production in SALT 2.0's renovated space in Chester Springs! New video wall! New surround-sound system! New scene shop! New special FX! This is going to be a glorious experience for us all!

Audition Dates

​​​Initial auditions will take place AT OUR WEST CHESTER LOCATION (19 Hagerty Blvd, 19382) in person via time slots (register above) on the evenings of June 2 and 3, 2025. If you absolutely cannot make an in-person time slot on either evening (which is much preferred), video submissions will be accepted, emailed to LMcComas@saltpa.com by June 1. Please put "SpongeBob Audition" in the subject of the email. Callbacks will take place if necessary and by invitation-only on the evening of June 10.

Performance Dates

SpongeBob performances will take place on the weekends of Sept 5-21, 2025. All performances will take place at SALT's Chester Springs location (1645 Art School Rd, Chester Springs, PA 19425).

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will typically take place primarily on Sunday afternoons, and Tuesday & Thursday evenings. A full production schedule can be found here. Please indicate all conflicts with this schedule on your audition form.
Please note that any conflicts with tech rehearsals or performances will not be accepted. 

Audition Format

Please prepare to sing two song cuts (32 measures each) in the style of the show; can be from the show, doesn't have to be from the show. Bring your sheet music with cuts clearly marked in a binder for our live accompanist.

Compensation

This is a community theatre production performed on a volunteer basis.

Roles

All roles are open and SALT encourages all performers ages 16+ to submit for any role regardless of type, gender, ability, race, ethnicity, sexuality, neurodiversity, and similarity to the source material or original Broadway cast.

We are seeking to cast:


SpongeBob SquarePants (Strong Pop Tenor): He is eternally optimistic, innocent, high
energy. This actor should have strong physical comedy skills. Additionally: Must be
naturally funny and have great comedic/improv skills.


Patrick Star (Tenor): Kind but somewhat gullible and slightly clueless. Has a real
sense of child-like wonder. The Samwise Gamgee to SpongeBob’s Frodo.


Sandy Cheeks (Mezzo-Soprano/Alto): A brainy and athletic Texan squirrel who came
to Bikini Bottom for a research project. Confident, self-assured, a real-go getter.


Squidward Q. Tentacles (Tenor): Grumpy, cynical, dry, short tempered, generally
negative but lovable in a way. This actor must move well and be able to tap.


Sheldon Plankton (Tenor): His personality outweighs his size- slick, scheming, has the
ability to charm. Power hungry - A shady politician vibe. Some rap skills needed.


Karen the Computer/Ensemble (Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano): Glamorous, the
computer housewife of Plankton. Feels jaded and kind of “been there done that”.
Looking for someone who can beatbox.


Eugene Krabs (Baritone): The greedy owner of the Krusty Krab who’s sole focus is
making money. Takes advantage of the crisis by trying to make money off the fears
of the people. Clueless when it comes to his daughter.


Pearl Krabs (Mezzo-Soprano): Mr. Krabs' teenage daughter who longs for her Dad to
notice her and not just focus on his money. This is a character role with Gospel vocal
overtones - must be a strong belter.

Electric Skates/ Ensemble: Rock and roll band members, the Skates are hard-core,
grungy, heavy metals meet World Wrestling. Looking for people who can use
“heelies” or inline skates.
Sardine Devotees/ Ensemble: Precision movement - able to move as a unit.
Sea Anemone Chorus/ Ensemble: STRONG tap skills
Theater Security Guards/ Ensemble
