Will my child learn letters and numbers?

Yes! We will incorporate cognitive development of letters, numbers, colors, days of the week, and all that fun stuff that preschoolers learn, but through the performing arts. So they might learn the months of the year through a song with hand motions or the colors through acting out a story.

Are the Instructors trained and background checked?

Absolutely! Our Instructors for the cognitive development room hold PA State Teaching Certificates, and for the music, movement, and storytelling rooms are professionals in the field of performing arts. All of them are passionate about and extremely gifted at working with children. Additionally, each room will have an Instructor’s aide. You and your kids will love them! They have all been thoroughly background checked (Criminal Background, Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Clearance) with extensive references given. Also, all of the Instructors are CPR and First Aid certified.

Can I attend an Open House to tour the facility and see what a morning for my child would look like?

Yes! Please contact info@saltpa.com to schedule a visit to our Playhouse!

What are the class sizes?

Our max class size for our 3-year-olds will be 12 children and for our 4 and 5-year-olds will be 14 children. There will be three separate classes rotating between their different sessions.

What ages are allowed to register?

Students must be at least 3 years old by September 1st, 2020. Students must be fully potty-trained. Registration will be more limited for the 4 and 5 year olds, so don’t delay in securing your child’s spot.

Does my child need to bring their own lunch each day for the family-style lunch session?

Yes! All lunches must be brought in each day by each student, and they must be nut-free. They will sit around a table with an Instructor who will facilitate conversation and manners among the students. And since we know that food allergies are a concern, we will not allow the sharing of food between the children.

What can you tell me about the performances my child will do?

Multiple times throughout the year, we will hold performances at the SALT Performing Arts theatre where your child will participate in a showcase for you and your family. This is where we will have them show off the things they are learning, as well as grow in their confidence in front of a crowd. We will shower them with lots of positive reinforcement for their courage to perform!

Will my child need any special supplies or attire?

Children will need to dress comfortably each day, ready to move. There may be times throughout the year where they will be asked to wear something specific, which they will likely already have in their closet (i.e.: black pants). They will need ballet and tap shoes. There will also be a one-time family registration fee of $25.

Will I receive progress reports on my child throughout the session?

We will hold progress report meetings with you throughout the year whereby each instructor will offer input into your child's strengths and growth opportunities.
