Set in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies follows Jack Kelly and a group of young newspaper sellers who decide they’ve had enough when the powerful newspaper publishers raise the price they must pay for their papers. What begins as a small act of defiance grows into a citywide movement as the newsies join together to demand fairness—and discover the power of their voices along the way.
Featuring rousing numbers like “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “King of New York,” Newsies delivers spectacular choreography, memorable characters, plenty of heart, and a message that proves one person can make a difference—and a united group can change the world. As part of a 10 year partnership with Chester County Food Bank, SALT will be collecting food for the Chester County Food Bank at every performance. No glass containers please. $1.00 from every ticket sale is directly donated to the Chester County Food Bank.

Once the show has begun, there are limited opportunities to be seated by our ushers prior to intermission. Please plan to arrive at SALT Chester Springs early enough to be seated before showtime.

All mainstage performances at SALT are immersive and sensory-rich experiences. Our sound is often loud and lighting dynamic. Expect water-based atmospheric haze, brief stroboscopic lighting, and sudden/loud sound effects.
